About Free Roots Yoga
Free Roots Yoga is a virtual yoga space dedicated to creating experiences for all to freely connect with body, mind, and spirit through the practice of yoga. By building a foundation of self-awareness, it is our hope to inspire freedom, growth, and connection in oneself and with the universe.
Our Foundations
Yoga is an ancient practice that is rooted in science, philosophy, and spirituality. Yoga has evolved throughout history based on teaching lineages and the diversity of cultures that have invoked its teachings. Honoring our foundations, we hope to share the teachings and benefits of yoga with others.
Akhanda Shakti Method
Akhanda Shakti is a fusion of two methods, one rooted in tradition and the other in inspirational awakening. Akhanda is the approach of Himalayan yoga master, Yogrishi Vishvketu. Akhanda yoga combines six traditional paths of yoga - hatha, jnana, raja, mantra, karma, and bhakti - in aim to revive the whole message of yoga. Shakti is the addition to this method, created by SoulWork founder, Adi Shakti. Her teachings are aimed to awaken and inspire the divine feminine through transformational experiences. Our foundations are rooted in the Akhanda Shakti method.
The Values That Ground Us
Humility
Humility is the ability to see the truth of oneself without self-justification. By cultivating self-awareness, we are able to see ourselves and others more clearly; as humans who coexist. The diversity of our experiences contributes to our collective being. Humility grows as we respond to the humanity of others and ourselves.
Sincerity
Sincerity allows one to be honest with oneself and others. When we are willing to recognize and examine the sometimes difficult truths of our self, we can move from judgement to accepting all parts of ourselves. Sincerity grounds our self-acceptance in honesty and compassion, and grows our ability to love and accept others.
Perseverance
Perseverance keeps us grounded in our journeys. It is our individual responsibility to embody the spirit that we wish to be; to communicate and take action with awareness of our self. We persevere through internal and external challenges to find harmony and peace in the present moment.
